Update (2/10/09): Not sure if Saatchi LA is still looking to fill the internship positions. I'll keep you posted.

Saatchi & Saatchi LA are looking for eight interns in the following departments:

  • Media Planning
  • Traffic
  • Print Production
  • Idea Management (Account)
  • Interactive (Account, Media)
  • Brand Integration (Event Planning)
  • Strategic Planning

Check out the agencies blog as well - you can pick up some insights into the culture of the agency by reading through a handful of the posts - particularly this one

Hi Jonathan,

I actually checked this out and received the following email from the director of human interests:

"Thank you for reaching out to Saatchi for internship opportunities. As of now, we have not posted any internship opportunities on our site and reviewing our program. Please check back at the website at a later time to see if opportunities are posted. Once you land on the homepage of our site, you would enter through the "careers" section which will bring you to the different positions including any internships that we may have available for the summer.

Regards,

Tina Guszak
Associate Director, Human Interests"

That's unfortunate.

There could be a number of reasons for this - but naturally they would all be speculation.

I'm curious, was the internship posted on their website or did you email the contact that was listed on the YouIntern post?

I emailed the contact that they had on the Youintern.com but she was on maternity leave so I got forwarded to other peoples' emails. I then emailed those people and I got that following response.

That blows!

I have a funny feeling that many of us (those seeking internships) will experience this, particularly in the current economic environment. It's not uncommon for agencies to back out of posted internships (however, it is unethical) when they're experiencing hardships.

One just needs to take a quick look over at the Saatchi thread @ AgencySpy to realize that the LA office hasn't been having the best year.

Thanks again for letting me, and everyone who looks at the blog, know that this internship is a no go. Sad times.
